Set to Expire: July 31st

July was full of earning reports.  My Good-to-Cancel (GTC) order for $GOOG got filled at the last minute of the trading day for $580 per share on July 16th just before Google spiked up in after hours.  I sold off 60% of my shares of $GOOG and made a pretty penny of it.  I'm a little disappointed that I held all these years only to sell it off just before it really jumped in price.  It's a curse I tell ya!

MA 31JUL2015 91 P-1
SBUX 31JUL2015 57.5 C1

I'm going to let my PUTS expire worthless as they're pretty out of the money in today's market.  I am looking to forward to keeping the $168.42 premiums I collected in less than a week of opening the trades.

As for my earnings play call for $SBUX, I think I'll have to take a loss in this one.  I need $SBUX to go above $58.50/share by tomorrow in order for me to break even.  Most I can lose is $100 of my own money.

Set to Expire: July 24th

Sometimes, I do not even realize I how much I trade.  Currently, I have 26 different options that are currently open.

Below are options that are set to expire on Friday:

OptionPosition
SBUX 24JUL2015 51 P-1
V 24JUL2015 65.5 P-1
V 24JUL2015 67 P-1

I sold these PUTS in the past week to make a few bucks.

These are all small plays before $SBUX and $V earnings report.  I will keep my premiums of $43.63 in total if they all stay above my strike prices.

PUTS are slow and boring.  CALLS are quick and exciting.

Lately, I've been dabbling in some CALLS.  I trade on my gut instincts.  My current calls are:

1 @ $0.37 for $ABT $52.50 strike Aug 21st
1 @ $3.90 for $NFLX $110 strike Aug 7th (I'm down $117 already!)
1 @ $1.00 for $SBUX $57.50 strike Jul 31st
2 @ $0.27 for $SBUX $62.50 strike Sept 18th

Set to Expire: July 17, 2015

There are a couple of options expiring today.  Both will expire worthless.

OptionPosition
GILD 17JUL2015 130 C1
YUM 17JUL2015 80 P-1

What does this all mean?

For $GILD, I bought 1 contract of CALL $130 for 0.38.  Each contract represents 100 shares, so I paid $38.00 (100 shares @ $0.38).  Since $GILD did not go over $130 by my expiry date which is today, my CALL will expire worthless and I lose $38.  <-- in order for me to profit from this trade, I need $GILD to go near or above my strike before my expiry date and sell my CALL for a profit.

For $YUM, I sold 1 contract of PUT $80 for 0.25.  Each contract represents 100 shares, so I collected $25.00 (100 shares @ $0.25).  Since $YUM did not go below $80 by my expiry date which is today, my PUT will expire worthless and I gain $25.00.  This trade requires margin room to make.  <-- in order for me to profit from this trade, I need $YUM to stay above my strike before my expiry date or end up getting assigned $YUM 100 shares @ $80.

Today, my total realized loss will be $13.

There are a lot of ways to play the OPTION market.  I'm just picking away at it little by little with calculated risks.

Above $100k!

I would like to document this day as my non-registered account at Interactive Brokers hit over $100k today!  To be realistic, this may be wiped away any given day.

What a wild ride this past month has been as shown in the graph below:

The market has been quite bullish for the most part.  Cracks are starting to appear on certain days, but market has come back roaring after each set back.  There are the naysayers calling for a market correction in these conditions.  They will be hailed for calling it "right", but how many opportunities will they miss by standing on the sidelines?

No one has the magic ball to tell the future, or else, everyone will be filthy rich.  There will be winners as there will be losers on the other end.  I choose to be on the winning side on the most part!!

McDonald's Minions are Back!

The super popular Minions are back at McDonald's.  @ $2 per toy or $3.99 per Happy Meal (They raised their prices to $4.19!)... it's a great deal and treat to you or your kids.

Each Minion talks when you shake them.  By talking, I mean gibberish! Nevertheless, super cute!

Last Friday, my coworker went and got me the Tall Minion and Short Minion during lunch.  On Sunday, I went to my neighborhood MCD to pick up Mr. Guitar Minion.

This week, it was my turn to return the favour to pick up lunch for my coworker.  Unfortunately, the MCD near work ran out of Minions!  I walked away with Barbie toys instead... but apparently, I can exchange them for Minions if they are unopened!

Very disappointing that I couldn't get any Minions today!!

Two summers ago, I collected them all and for my cousin in Asia.  This summer, I'm helping my cousin to collect.  Nine more to go...I hope others don't beat me to them!

Lately, I've been a little tired of blogging about my options trades.  No one really cares, except for me.  So I'll be blogging more about general stuff for fun and to keep my creative juices flowing!

June Option/Stock Performance

June ended tragically for me.  Down a whopping 3.73% in my overall IB portfolio!!  I'm a little pissed off.  I was doing so well till this past Monday.

I traded a shitload of options this month.  So much so that I was able to bring my spectacular loss from $WMT spread out into the brink of greenness for the month ending to the tune of $504.47 in realized gains.  That's right folks, I'm staying above waters!

What else happened in June?

-Added 44 shares @ $27.50 of $AW.UN to my TFSA.  Cash collected from my other stocks within the account.
-I didn't bother rolling out my $PEY.TO so I let it get assigned for 100 @ $34.00.  Right now, I'm down $314.00 in paper loss.
-I quit my 6 year part-time job to free up my every second Sundays.
-I turned 34.  I feel old now.
-I scratch my fiance's truck while rounding the corner too tightly.  It's a boo boo that was totally avoidable if I had been careful.
-My car won't start even after replacing the battery.  It's still not fixed yet.

Life don't always go your way.  Make the best of it.
